Mundane

Lachman Soni contributed to this article

Life, for the most part, seems mundane
Is that because we are exploring in vain?
There is much we ignore around us that seems mundane
We might prefer somethings that are utterly profane
Like the videos portraying ordinary to be urbane
That is because we long instead for something germane
Talk about mundane, what about Mr Bain
Who was him, you ask, he was always ready to entertain
Have you seen this Mr Bain?
No, but I have dreamt him up while traveling in train
Oh, so you could not and would not refrain
So you think that Mr Bain had a good brain
Ah, what a barrage of inquiries, had nothing to gain
He was just as mundane as a country lane
Unlike the world we live in that is definitely not mundane

A fine line between the perfect and mundane
Who needs that: a fine line.
That would disappear against the shine.
Am happy with mundane; perfect is pain
Striving for perfection?
Ha!, the definition is: you never get there.
Cause you can improve upon any thing.

Lake

Got up in middle of the night cause I was awake
No it is not a story and it is not a fake
It is about a boat that was on the lake
And a man I met whose name is Jake
He told me he has a duck named drake
And he likes to fish on his boat on the lake
With his duck aboard goes fishing making a wake
On the lake and meanwhile eating lots of cake
He catches fish on the second take
Because he lost his first catch for his duck's sake
What a story am I to make?
About a duck named Drake
And about a man named Jake
Hell it is 4 in the morning what to make
That is my humble offer for you all
Because you are my audience not a flake

A drunkard's walk in the park
It was dusk, not quite dark
She heard a song, she thought was a lark
Let her believe what she wants to, why hark
Possibly, it couldn't have been a bark
Delusional to think she was in a cage with a shark
She stumbled on a hair wig, it was a tree bark
A drunkard possibly could hit on the mark
So why hark.

You like potatoes, I like tomatoes.
You like a collar, l like a spoiler.
You like wings, I like the springs.
You like jets, I like the props.
You like the Yankees, I like the Trojans.
You don't like broccoli, I like the cabbage.
You like it clean, I like the baggage.
You like to crop, I like to hop.
Stop. Stop. I do like to crop.
More and more, we shall not stop.

If you want privacy join the Face Book.
You would be un-distinguishable from the thousands.
Your may find out you are not unique after all.
It is an humbling experience that so many are like you.
Ironic as it may sound you are well hidden in the crowd.
Am not advocating FaceBook, it broke the illusion of privacy.
There is safety in numbers they say. It might be true.

Tinker tinker there is a lot out there to be discovered.
Tinkle tinkle there is a bunch more to come.
Twinkle twinkle there is plenty more to shine.
Tickle tickle the baby is going to laugh.

Isn't it in every body ? Some hold back?
What happens when you hold back?
Oh, did not mean what I said.
The knowledge, the knowledge I meant.
You hold back, it disappears but it's there.
You prod yourself, it comes back.
Or some outside agent prods you, it comes back.
Producers are winners, oh so are the actors.
The lay back audience have a role to play too.
After all it's the audience that pay the bills.
Forgive me but they are mostly a lazy bunch.
Because most of them just hold back.

How thick is your skin

Mine is very thin, wish had it thicker.
A whole lot thicker, could wallow in the mud.
Wouldn't it be fun?!  Actually can't know.
Can you grow thicker if you try?
It may involve a lot of pain in the process.
Wouldn't it  be worth it though?
It depends how bad you want it, like any thing else.
There is no gain without a pain in the ..s

I kissed a girl, and I like it

You did have this experience, am sure.
The question is, did she like it?
Do not get carried away please
Just say it, you liked it.

What are you worrying about

Question: what is the difference between concern and the worry?
Sure should try to cheer up but to deal with the problems you mentioned
requires thought before any action. And thinking constitutes some sort of
worrying which, you mentioned correctly, prompts you to act for dealing
with the circumstance on hand.
So worrying may be an instrument to solve problems.
Perhaps Worrying should not be the end but the means for problem solving.
Does the act of mere worrying/moaning have any therapeutic/soothing property
besides its promotional function for action?
This might be a question to ask a psychologist.
Is it feasible to reason with yourself against worrying after a tragic event?
Or is it healthy, for the lack of a better term,
to go thru a moaning period to get over a certain tragic event like a loss of a loved one.
Another question for the psychologist.
So does worrying make a difference?

Are we made up or the product of our past? Let Us elaborate.
When we present ourself or our opinions do we create our persona or ideas at a free will or
are we the cumulative of our experiences in the past?
What would be the basis of these conclusion?
Are we programmable somewhat/more-like  a computer machine?
How some of us are believers (religious) and some of us are non-believers?
Do we act and express ourselves based on certain premises like religion or ideology?
How do we reconcile our ideas with one another having different premises?
Are there certain indisputable facts that could help bridge the differences?

Possessions

Wonder when, or if at all, the humans will stop considering the material wealth
and possessions so passionately?
Yes, some "spiritual" and religious individuals have encouraged the wealthy to give away
(to them) their possessions. The practiced had a limited success because it was a fraud.
Can think of one reason for hoarding; being afraid of falling into the pauper pool.
So until their is a universal prosperity, the competition to hoard will continue.
Is that a fair assessment?
The behavior of other animals might shed some light.
Can we learn some from other inferior species?
Is it safe to assume that competition is seen inversely proportional to
the abundance of food and shelter available?

Why migrate?

Safety, health, climate, better life, better future for family, cost of living, fear,
sense of belonging and more reasons you can add.
Obstacles to migration?
Fear of loosing of the above by the present residents, mostly. Excuses are added, of course.
Is there a common thread here? And could it be related to the previous writing " possessions"?
Do we learn from history much?

Learn more than geography, biology, chemistry, mathematics, and psychology?
There are biases we know.
So why not learn some from every body and from all of the above?
Now that we got that out of the way,
how to learn from history-the human development history?

Are we bias toward the past?

Do we tend to bend towards the past more?
Think of a needle on a compass.
Suppose North is the future and South is the past.
Now bring a handy magnet close to the compass.
Could you make the needle point to South?
The argument being the past is past, we are moving forward- future.

Different areas of the world and their cultures including different religions have arguably had, especially in this country, influences on our outlook on most if not all issues.
Besides most similarities there are some stark differences among different cultures
that surface on occasions.
Yes, they could be reconciled to some extent and perhaps with time, as the history tells us,
the complete assimilation brings about a near complete reconciliation.
There would be different ideologies and different prescriptions to solve problems for
the foreseeable future.
These opposing views and ideologies drive the human development machine, I believe.

The Compartments

Follow the crowd or the screaming agents; leaving behind the precious stuff in your reach;
is this the recipe for disappointment?
Examples: Starting wars, adopting or buying into the advertised or popularized trends
in recent times has lagged us behind in building our future. What a waste of time?
But on the other hand (there almost always is the other hand) the lessons learned,
for the long term, may have been worthwhile. The disappointments might make us think harder.
Why talk about this now?
Well, don't know exactly but one can think better when one is not in the middle of a crisis
but expecting one, I think.
The future well-being of our planet, our only home for now, may be depending
on our actions now.
This hard job has made us compartmentalize every thing.
Like countries with borders, languages and nationalities, societies
with different religions and legions/parties, races ...
The adjoining mediums like rivers, seas and mountains have been used
to divide territories thus dismembering the human race.
Most other living organisms do not recognize these boundaries.
They migrate and cross borders without passports.
Talking about compartmenting we have created labels and scales for everything;
degrees-for temps., grade levels (elementary, middle, high). B.S, M.S, PhD - for education;
altitudes and longitudes for the Earth, classes (lower, middle and upper) for the society.
Some of them are for measurement convenient, but the others are not, I think.
Do these scales represent more than just measurements?
Do these labels and scales put us in some compartments?
Getting back to the central topic of getting it right after mistakes.
We the human race, part of the living organisms, have been evolving through out the times,
learning from trials and errors and aiming and hoping for near perfection.
Might just continue to do so for a long time before we are destroyed.
The destruction might come in the future but hopefully not
from our own actions which might a be part of the Evolution itself.
Just mumbling!
Please feel free to jump in.  ha.. Ha!
No dis-respect intended

Why are the young ones less fearful?

Fearful of what and who is more fearful than who?
Seems like the older one gets more mindful of injuries and and mortality.
Why? Shouldn't be the other way around?
Is it because once one has survived for some time one gets more experience in survival?
Does surviving individual starts to enjoy life more and wants to prolong it?
Are the younger ones, by their nature, more adventurous and thus less fearful?
Do they get more thrill at the moment and think less about the future or longevity.
Do younger ones know less about pain and suffering?
Does a threshold in life experience (where and when it might be in the life span ) makes a difference? For example start of a family may make one more mindful of survival and less adventurous- for the sake generational life span.

FEAR NOT

The most terrible thing, that I can think of, is FEAR.....ioohhh!
But,  a big but, it could also drive us to a better place of safety
( prosperity and all that is included).
Let us explore the negatives:
Possibly, blurs vision and other senses, shortens life
and may be more- don't want to think about them now.
